METHODOLOGY

We map the handoff before we write the answer.

Post-loan problems cross lender servicing systems and state title systems. Our process is designed to keep those layers separate.

01

Define one failure point

Each guide begins with a narrow question: payoff higher than balance, extra payment allocation, lien still present, title not received, or another checkable state.

02

Primary sources first

Federal regulator material, state DMV/title-agency procedures and lender documentation are preferred over publisher summaries for factual rules and workflow.

03

Separate national from state-specific

National servicing guidance and state title procedure are documented as separate layers. A state lookup entry appears only after its official source is verified.

04

Reconcile the numbers

Examples show principal, interest, dates and payoff timing explicitly so a reader can audit the direction of the math.

05

Show limits

Where a contract, lender method or exceptional title dispute can change the outcome, the guide says so instead of forcing a universal answer.

06

Recheck updates

State procedures and agency pages change. Every state record includes a verification date and official source link for later review.
