OR · STATE PROCESS
Oregon: from final payment to clear title.
6 guides, each starting at a different point where the Oregon payoff-to-title handoff can stall.
DMV SNAPSHOT
- Title system
- Oregon records lenders as security interest holders and generally requires an owner title transaction with original lien releases to remove them.
- After payoff
- After payoff, submit the required title/replacement application materials and original release evidence; a paper title does not automatically appear just because the loan reached zero.
- Lien release
- Oregon accepts properly executed releases on the title, Form 735-524, or equivalent bank documents meeting DMV requirements; the transaction page calls for original lien releases.
- Owner action
- Keep copies, send originals through the DMV process, and use the replacement-title option if the Oregon title itself is lost.
- Timing
- Current DMV estimates list about 2–3 weeks for Oregon/out-of-state titles and about one week for replacement titles; these are processing estimates, not lender deadlines.
